TTXGP UK Championship 2010 dates confirmed

Three events have been provisionally confirmed by the Auto Cycle Union (ACU) for the inaugural TTXGP UK Championship 2010. The series is sanctioned by the ACU and supported by the British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF).

TTXGP UK Championship 2010 follows on from the TTXGP Isle of Man 2009, the world's first zero carbon, clean emission motorcycle race on the Isle of Man TT course. TTXGP North America Championship 2010 has also confirmed its first race at Infineon, California, May 14 – 16 2010. The highest placed teams from the TTXGP series 2010 will compete in a grand final in November (date and venue to be confirmed). The UK Championship events will be held at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire (3-4 July), Snetterton, Norfolk (17-18 July) and Castle Combe, Wiltshire (11 September).

TTXGP founder, Azhar Hussain, said, 'We are delighted to get these UK events off the ground and it is thanks to all those involved who have worked hard to make this happen. A new generation of motorsport requires a new way of thinking – it needs to be flexible and adapt at any given moment to change. It needs blind belief and utter commitment to push it over the line. It is outstanding to partner with organisations like the ACU and BMF who not only have the willingness to move with us but also the practical ability to put TTXGP UK in motion.'

Dave Luscombe of the ACU said, 'The ACU is delighted to be a partner in the creation and running of the world's first domestic road race championship for electric motorcycles. As the National Governing Body for motorcycle sport in the United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland), the ACU has nurtured and developed British motorcycle sport for over a century. The ACU believes that the development of this new and innovative branch of motorcycle racing will help secure the future of sport for the next 100 years.'

Christopher Hodder, BMF, said, 'The BMF is extremely pleased that after many months of hard work with TTXGP, we are going forward with a new championships for the whole of the UK which will have the full support of all the BMF's members. This series will really show that electric motorcycling is the future.'

Team Agni, winning entry from TTXGP Isle of Man 2009, is committed to continuing its exclusive support for TTXGP and plans to enter both the TTXGP Isle of Man 2010 and TTXGP UK Championship 2010. Further teams are coming on board not only for the Isle of Man and UK but for the TTXGP North America Championship 2010.
